What is a Segway?

The SegwayTM Human Transporter is the first of its kind-a self-balancing, personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Easy to use and operate, the two-wheeled Segway sports high-tech gyroscopes that automatically respond to your body's movements, "sensing" when it should speed up and slow down.

You stand on a small platform between left and right wheels as you hold onto handlebars at a comfortable waist height. The Segway handles the balancing for you, so that you're always upright as you glide through any environment.

Is there a weight limit and minimum age for the tour?

There is a recommended limit of 250 lbs. and we ask our guests to be within a reasonable range of this limit. All participants must also be at least 15 years old and posses at least a moped or auto drivers license.

How far in advance do I need to reserve?

Occasionally we do have space available should you call the morning of your desired tour. This, however, is rare and we suggest you reserve as far ahead of time as possible. We tend to fill all of our tours. Click on "Reservations" to make your reservation.

Are the tours cancelled in case of rain?

No, our tours run rain or shine. We have ponchos available for anyone that needs them in our office.

Do we go inside the museums and monuments?

We do stop at Checkpoint Charlie and allow you to explore the outside area on your own. However, we do not go in to any of the museums as most require an official employee of theirs to conduct a guided tour and while some people may want to spend 10 minutes in a museum, others may want to spend 4 hours. We're here to Segway and enjoy the city so that's what we're going to do!

Can I rent a Segway without a guide?

Unfortunately, we cannot rent our Segways out to individuals without a guide because of Berlin government stipulations. Since our tours are virtually always full, we need all machines for our tour customers.

Is there a damage deposit for the Segway tour?

In conjunction with our insurance policy arrangements we are required to take a EUR 400,- deposit per party/family to cover any damages sustained to the machine during the tour. This damage deposit will be taken by credit card (Visa, MC, Amex) or cash at the start of the tour and refunded at the end, provided the Segway is returned in the same condition.

Can I purchase a Segway from City Segway Tours?

We can help you get the coolest machine in the world. Please just call us at +49 30 2404 7991 or send us an email here.

Are the Segways safe for children or people with disabilities?

Although riding a Segway is relatively easy to do and learn, we do require that all riders be at least 16 years of age.

Each of our tours begins with a 30-minute orientation session. We will practice on the Segways until everyone feels comfortable.
